Carlos founded his small business 10 years ago gradually built up his business: from a small shop where he sold goods from artisans to a company where he designs his own collection of handbags and sells it to customers all over the world. The Guatemalan roots of his products are definitely expressed in the vibrant colours he uses in his designs and motifs. In his collection he makes use of worn out Huipils which are the traditional garment of indigenous women. The design and motifs of the Huipil vary depending the villages and communities where it was made. The style of traditional Huipiles generally indicates the ethnicity and community as each village has its own methods of creating the fabric and decorations.
