Helsinki

In Helsinki there is urban living and nature side by side. You can easily find the beat of city culture, but in few steps you can find lovely parks and the peace of nature. City activism is very strong in Helsinki and from innovative ideas (for example Restaurant day and Cleaning day) it has been working amazingly. You can find originality from many cafes, clubs and restaurants. You can easily spend evenings with locals in Kaiku. Very openminded crowds are dancing there for the pure love of music. In Helsinki it’s very easy to find your way into locals lives and underground culture. The best areas for nightlife and to see fashionable people are Punavuori and Kallio. This article will give you a little sight what Helsinki has offer to you.

Samuji

Samuji is a small shop in the center of Helsinki. It has classic and seasonal clothes. Samuji ́s windows are very unique and the windows themselves are already art. Clothes follow very scandinavian style which is timeless and fills your wardrobe perfectly with nice prints and patterns. You can find two samuji shops in helsinki: Pohjoisesplanadi 37 and Erottajankatu 9. If you will go shop at samuji in Pohjoisesplanadi there is also a very nice cafe called “cafe esplanad” where they sell the best and biggest korvapuusti (traditional finnish cinnamon roll).

Llamas

Llamas is a very comfortable and intimate bar in Punavuori. The style is inspired by mexico and Frida Kahlo. it opens its doors at 04:00pm and stays open until 02:00am. Bar Llamas has the best mojitos in town.. There is also a swing inside the bar which is covered by flowers. Bar Llamas is a must see place with its inspirational and lovely decoration and atmosphere. On the summer time there is also a terrace outside.

Hietaniemi fleamarket

The biggest flea market in the summer time in Helsinki. You can really find amazing treasures for very cheap prices in the center of Helsinki. It is open everyday at summer time, but most of the sellers come on weekends. Remember to take cash and a water bottle with you. It’s very hot to be crowded with lots of people searching treasures for themselves. This flea market is one of the best places in Scandinavia. Remember to bargain from prices!

Kiasma

For the culture and modern art Kiasma is a place to go. Kiasma is a museum of contemporary art and it is the cultural center place. It’s modern and easily to find. Kiasma is so much more than normal museum. There is also a cafe inside where you can go to relax after visiting Kiasma. open from tuesun. Under 18 year olds free.

Suomenlinna

A beautiful island in Helsinki. You can take a boat to Suomenlinna with a normal tram/bus ticket from Kauppatori. Suomenlinna looks like a place from a whole different planet. Everywhere is green and there are small tunnels where you can secretly walk in the shadows. A very good idea is to go for a picnic, just grab your baguettes and wine and take a boat to this magical island. It only takes 15 minutes from Kauppatori to Suomenlinna. You can easily spend the whole day there.
