FOLKDAYS presents SEVAR Studios by Hila & Wana Limar. After launching their jewellery label SEVAR Studios with a mini-collection in December 2020, the sisters Hila and Wana Limar introduce their new collection one year later. The second SEVAR Studios collection consists of eight pieces of jewellery that, through their names and design, pay special tribute to Afghanistan’s eventful history and its influential personalities.

This is the "Rumi" choker necklace. Lapis lazuli beads in a special organic finish have been used for the choker necklace and the matching bracelet. The jewellery pieces show the deep blue gemstone fully in its naturalness and demonstrate its simple beauty. Please note that the necklace is sold per piece.

Hila and Wana Limar explain the inspiration behind the name: "Jalāl ad-Dīn Muhammad Rūmī, Rumi for short, lived in the 13th century and was a Balkh-born Sufi mystic, scholar and one of the most important Farsi-language poets of the Middle Ages. Even today, his poems are still familiar to many in the Farsi-speaking world, i.e. in Afghanistan, Iran, Tajikistan and Azerbaijan. In addition, Rumi also receives international recognition: UNESCO proclaimed 2007 as the 'International Rumi Year' on the occasion of his 800th birthday."

The collection’s designs were created by Hila Limar (architect & chairwoman of the board at the non-profit organisation Visions for Children e.V.) and Wana Limar (creative producer, presenter, Visions for Children e.V. ambassador and member of their PR team). The earrings were then handcrafted in the workshop of a goldsmith in Afghanistan's capital Kabul. Read more about the collaboration here.

With their jewellery label SEVAR Studios, the sisters Hila and Wana Limar, who were born in Afghanistan, also combine their shared affinity for artistic design with their educational, sustainable aspirations – and therefore connect their longstanding commitment to the educational sector, especially through the non-profit organisation Vision for Children e.V., with their love of art and aesthetics. Profits generated by SEVAR Studios will be invested in a goldsmith training programme for girls and young women in Kabul, which Visions for Children e.V. is planning for 2022.

Please note that each pair is handmade from natural materials. No earring is like the other, but a beautiful one of a kind. Therefore, variations to the photos may occur.
