FOLKDAYS presents SEVAR Studios by Hila & Wana Limar. After launching their jewellery label SEVAR Studios with a mini-collection in December 2020, the sisters Hila and Wana Limar introduce their new collection one year later. The SEVAR Studios collection consists now of ten pieces of jewellery that, through their names and design, pay special tribute to Afghanistan’s eventful history and its influential personalities.

This is the “Sina” bracelet. The Bracelet and the matching Necklace “Sina” catch the eye with their round lapislazuli elements that are organically cut on both sides. The dainty chains are made of high-quality 925 silver in a goldsmith’s workshop in Kabul and gold-plated locally on site. The simple piece of jewellery is wonderful for everyday wear and could be combined with the medium or small “Soraya” earrings for a minimalist, classic look. Please note that the bracelet is sold per piece.

Hila and Wana Limar explain the inspiration behind the name: “Ibn Sina, also known by the Latin name Avicenna, was a doctor and scholar who significantly shaped medicine for centuries. Sina was born in 980, probably in Balkh, in northern Afghanistan. He is renowned not only in scientific research, but also in art, philosophy and theology and admired as a pioneer of his time. Even in the Milan Cathedral, there is an image of the Muslim doctor as one of the most famous figures of the Roman Empire and the Middle Ages.”

The collection’s designs were created by Hila Limar (architect & chairwoman of the board at the non-profit organisation Visions for Children e.V.) and Wana Limar (creative producer, presenter, Visions for Children e.V. ambassador and member of their PR team). The earrings were then handcrafted in the workshop of a goldsmith in Afghanistan's capital Kabul. Read more about the collaboration here.

With their jewellery label SEVAR Studios, the sisters Hila and Wana Limar, who were born in Afghanistan, also combine their shared affinity for artistic design with their educational, sustainable aspirations – and therefore connect their longstanding commitment to the educational sector, especially through the non-profit organisation Vision for Children e.V., with their love of art and aesthetics. Profits generated by SEVAR Studios will be invested in a goldsmith training programme for girls and young women in Kabul, which Visions for Children e.V. is planning for 2022.

Please note that each pair is handmade from natural materials. No piece is like the other, but a beautiful one of a kind. Therefore, variations to the photos may occur.
