FOLKDAYS N° 264
The abbreviation CORR stands for Christian Organization for Relief and Rehabilitation. With the aim to help war widows after the War of Independence in 1971, CORR started off with a program connected local women with a young designer from New York City in order to provide them with an income. Together they developed handicrafts made from jute and achieved that many marginalized rural women could reach more financial independence. Today CORR still is a working place for many women like Rehena Bagum, living in villages around Dhaka in Bangladesh, providing them with a place that stands for autonomy and companionship among women.
