FAIR GIFT
India

It is the declared goal of the Indian fair trade organisation Fair Gift to increase the awareness of fair trade and to expand the market for Indian handicrafts.

Founded in 2013, the organisation now works with about 15 producer groups in South India, who manufacture cutlery made of wood such as rice spoons as well as incense sticks, toys, ceramics, textiles or palm candy. Besides the marketing and sale of their handicraft products, Fair Gift also supports the artisans in design and product development, in questions of packaging and the export of the goods.

One of the companies working with Fair Gift is the family business Sivam Pottery in Puducherry in South India. In addition to marketing, Fair Gift also manages the export of their ceramic products.

The ceramic products are made of stoneware by the artisans of Sivam Pottery. In the traditional process of ceramic production, these are wheel-thrown, glazed and fired at 1,200°C.
