At Tanoti, young woman learn and practise the ancient Malay technique of songket or supplementary weft weaving. They equip themselves with a special skills which allows them to earn a viable income for the rest of their lives, and at the same time, as songket artisans, they become custodians of a heritage - keeping it alive for yet another generation.
Plus, it's Tanoti's intention to promote innovation in songket weaving so that this traditional craft may be appreciated by a wider audience, locally and worldwide.
